From a young age, I remember attending church regularly in Gulf Breeze (outside of Pensacola), however, this was more of a “story-time” than anything else. Living in this lifestyle, I was never really a bad kid compared to some of my peers. Beginning my freshman year in high school, I began a four year relationship with a girl. Needless to say we got close over the years… real close. I was sure that this was the girl that I was going to marry.
In 2009, after high school, my girlfriend decided to attend the University of West Florida while I had a desire to go to the University of South Florida. We maintained our relationship despite the hundreds of miles that separated us, still holding onto the anticipation of marriage. About 2 weeks into the Fall semester, however, I received a call from her saying that she found someone else - I was devastated and absolutely crushed.
A few days later, my roommate and another friend of mine invited me to come to a church with them that they heard about through a survey, Cornerstone Christian Church. During my first visit, I met a campus minister from Cornerstone. I got a call later that week and started meeting for a weekly Bible study. Through these, I heard and understood the Gospel message of “repent and believe” for the first time in my life. This really impacted me, so I decided to truly repent and follow Christ with my entire life.
I made the decision that Fall that no relationship in this world is worth more than a relationship with Jesus Christ . I became a member of Cornerstone Christian Church the next semester. This is where I developed new relationships with people in the church who are closer friends than I could ever have imagined. Now, I’m excited to be out on the campus in between my classes sharing my faith with other students. I love teaching them about how much God loves them and how He desperately desires to have an intimate relationship with them! ~Andreas
