I grew up attending church every Sunday, but didn’t really understand what it was to know Christ personally. God was just someone who was up in heaven, as opposed to someone I had a relationship with. As I got older, getting up on Sunday mornings got harder and the pull of the world became stronger. Through holding on to painful memories and letting them harden my heart, I began to feel resentment towards God. Eventually this grew to a complete doubt of His existence. I found myself in a really dark place and tried to fill up the emptiness I was feeling inside with partying and drinking.
Thankfully, I had a friend named Jen who went to Cornerstone and brought me to church one Sunday. Immediately, God began to work in my heart and made me desire a relationship with Him similar to what I was seeing others experience. I agreed to start a Bible study with Jen and Mary Anne and enjoyed hearing the Word, learning, and growing closer to God.
The Lord moved quickly in my heart to show me the truth of what I was missing, which was a relationship with Him. On Easter, April 4, 2010 I made the decision to give my life fully to the Lord. The decision I made that day was the best one I have ever made. Now that I am saved and have given my life to Jesus, my life has completely changed for the better. The emptiness I felt has been filled by the Lord. Where before I doubted the purpose of my life, I now realize that I am important simply because I am a daughter of God and my life has a purpose that He has planned for me. I have learned to rely on God. I now realize that God is not just up in heaven looking down on me, but He is walking with me always. With my eyes on the Lord, I know all things are possible through Him. I have found a savior, a teacher, and a friend. I am so thankful for the people at Cornerstone who have led me to the Lord and continue to help me learn and grow. I am so excited about building an even stronger relationship with the Lord and sharing my testimony with others. ~Danielle
