Testimony of the Month

Back to Campus Ministry

It has been two and a half years since I had my eyes open to truly see Jesus. Before I was saved, I was stubborn and rebellious. I prayed only if I needed something and attended church at my mother’s prodding, but never really knew God. As a teenager, I was diagnosed with a rare eye disorder that diminished my physical sight. I prayed to get healed but my sight was not restored, so I thought God was silent. At this point, I went my own way in the world, believing there was no point to church, prayer, or godliness. The next decade was filled with  unhappiness, fear, uncertainty, disappointment with a few moments of peace.

I moved to Tampa in 2004 to study architecture.  My third roommate was a Christian who shared his testimony with me. Four years later, that seed started to break through the  stubbornness of my heart. It was at this time that my mother gave me a forty day Bible devotional.  By the daily reading of God’s word and spending time in prayer, the reality of  Jesus’ sacrifice came alive.  I wanted change and to see a manifestation of the promises I was reading. God gave me true sight to see His mercy poured out even before I knew how to ask for it.

One year later, I spent some time praying for God to “direct my path” to a church of His choosing. In the first week of the school year in January 2011, a campus minister from Cornerstone invited me to church, which I knew to be God’s answer to my prayer. Now I am honored to be part of a church.  I am in a place of anointed and sincere worship where I feel the Lord’s presence each time. I’m so thankful that God answered my prayers.                  ~ Josh
