Growing up, I went to church with my family and participated in many activities there. I was saved at a young age, but      because I had a religious mentality, I dismissed the value of having a true relationship with God. Because I constantly judged others based on my own standards, I too judged myself based on other people’s expectations. In turn, this caused me to experience a     tremendous amount of hurt that led to my self-esteem diminishing and my decision-making skills becoming impaired. By high school graduation, I had completely talked myself into believing that I would never be enough for my family, friends, and even God.

But, I’m thankful for how the Lord drew me to USF and blessed me by having two Campus Ministers from Cornerstone disciple me. Throughout the Bible study sessions, the Lord revealed more and more about the plans He had for me. Soon I began to realize that the mindset I once had was based off of fear. I started to believe that the Lord did not want this for me, but that His plans for my life were clearly written in His Word. I saw that I needed to make a choice to turn away from my worldly desires and pursue the will He has for my life.

On March 25th of this year, I made the decision to rededicate my life to Christ. Afterwards I got baptized to recognize that my old self is buried and I have become a new creation in Christ. A week later, I joined Cornerstone Christian Church. I am thankful to know that the Lord trusts me to reach out to other students as a Bible Study Leader on the USF campus. I believe that my journey has just begun and the promises the Lord has for my life are already declared “Yes and Amen.”
