West's Testimony

Growing up in a small town on Long Island (NY), I heard about Jesus only a couple of times here and there. When I entered my junior year of high school I decided to seek out friendships with people in order to find some sort of satisfaction and fulfillment in life. Throughout my senior year and the summer before my first year as a college student , I would party and go to clubs with my friends from high school. I believed in God but my life didn’t reflect that by the way I was choosing to live. In the summer of 2010 the Lord really started to move in my life. One night I had plans to go to a birthday party at a club in Tampa. As I was lying on my bed, I heard God speak to my heart so clearly and intimately. God was telling me not to go and that He wanted me to pursue a deeper relationship with Him. As a result, I ended up not going and stayed home. I immediately began to think differently about the purpose of my life.

A month later I transferred to USF for the start of my second year of college. One day as I was walking on campus I met a Campus Minister from Cornerstone Christian Church who asked me if I wanted to fill out a survey. I marked down that I was interested in coming to church and doing a Bible study. I went to church that first Sunday of the Fall 2010 semester and instantly hungered for a relationship with God. During the first week of classes I met up with the Campus Minister for a Bible study. During the Bible study, he showed me in the Bible what living a life apart from the Lordship of Jesus Christ looked like. When he asked me if I was ready to make a decision to surrender my life to Jesus, I immediately said yes. After repenting I felt God’s grace wash over me. I became a new creation in Christ on August 24th, 2010! I am currently working on my Master’s degree in Elementary Education. I look forward to seeing how God uses me to impact the children in the education system. I’m so thankful for how God has changed me over these past 5 years and I am grateful for how Cornerstone Campus Ministry has encouraged me to use the gifts God has given me to impact this world for Christ!
