Peter
I was born and raised in a Christian home and have been going to church my whole life. I had a good understanding of what was being taught at church and I enjoyed going very much. The problem was that I didn’t have an intimate relationship with Jesus and I wasn’t pursuing one. I had one foot in the church and one foot in sin, and I was ok with that because the people around me saw me as a good Christian. The summer before college is when I started sliding deeper into sin, and I didn’t know how to get out.
My first week on campus, I ran into a campus minister from Cornerstone Christian Church and he asked me a few questions about my relationship with God. I realized if I died, I wouldn’t go to heaven, and it scared me. I decided to check out Cornerstone and could definitely tell that this was where God wanted me to be. I began to see my desperate need and a real desire for an intimate relationship with Jesus and fellowship with His people. I decided to start a weekly Bible study with a campus minister. Studying the Bible with them taught me how to apply the Word to my life and helped me see my need to repent from my sin and from trusting in myself, to trusting in Jesus. So one night, in my room, God showed up and I committed my whole life to Him!
Since becoming a member of Cornerstone, I’ve been able to grow so much as a disciple in my relationship with Jesus and my new brothers and sisters in Christ! Prayer, reading the Bible, and fellowship are now a part of my everyday life, and I love it. I can’t wait to see what God has in my future and how He will use me to impact the people around me with His love! ~Peter
