Looking back at it now, my walk with God started with a barbeque. Growing up, there was not much conversation about religion in our house

because my parents had two vastly different beliefs. We did not go to church except for once a year and as a result of the lack of conversation, I did not know the Lord and did not have a relationship with Him. I called myself a Christian, believing that Jesus Christ had died for our sins, but I did not completely understand what that meant.

When I was 16, I had a hunger for the Word, and for the first time in my life, I picked up my Bible and read. I read the Bible daily, in starvation to hear more about God and further our relationship. As time went on, I spent less time on God and more on what was going on around me. It was not until my freshman year of college that I established a firm relationship with the Lord. It began when I went to a Cornerstone Campus Ministry barbeque event with my friend for the free food- I had only gone because I was struggling financially and needed something to eat. The Holy Spirit must have led me there because the Lord surely did provide. He provided me with a filling meal and with Camille- a campus minister. I met Camille while eating at the barbeque, and she pulled a seat next to me to talk. After a little bit of conversation, she invited me to a Bible study and to church, which I quickly agreed to. When I went to Cornerstone, I knew that this was exactly where I was meant to be and began to worship God for the first time. On September 11, 2019, during one of our Bible studies, I made the decision to be born again and was baptized on October 13, 2019.

I am now, and forever will be, a proud member of Cornerstone! I have a burning passion for the Lord and have never once, since September, had that fire burn out. Life seems so different in comparison, now that I am walking in new life with the Lord Jesus. He has opened my eyes to see how loving He is, and that alone has inspired me to speak out to those around me and share the Word of God. I am forever thankful for that barbeque, and how the Lord used it to guide me back to Him. -Belldandy
