Growing up, I tried to live a good life based on what I heard when I visited church because I thought that was all I needed to do to be a Christian, and I wanted to please the people of the church as well as my parents. Unfortunately, in my high school years, I really saw myself turning away from those ideals as I started pursuing my own desires through getting a girlfriend, taking my soccer dreams very seriously, and going to high school parties. These habits and idols in my life caused me to spiral deeper and deeper into sin. This is when I really felt in my heart that I didn’t know if I wanted to continue my sinful relationship with my girlfriend. I talked to my mom, and she suggested that I should go fast and pray. I felt this emptiness in my heart, and the only thing I could think to grab hold of was Jesus. However, without any leadership I went and fought sin through my own strength and tried to follow the ‘rules’ of the Bible with no success.
That’s when, on February 4th, 2025, a minister of Cornerstone Christian Church and a student Bible study leader came up to me after one of my classes. They asked me 2 powerful questions: if I were to die today, would I go to heaven? As well as, why I think that to be the case. I told them that I knew about Jesus, and that He died for me. Although I was right, I was not fully there. This minister sat down with me at a bench and showed me Romans 10:9, “if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” On the spot I repented and prayed with the minister and gave my life to Christ that day!
That was the single best decision I have made in my entire life. I’m now learning how to obey God’s Word and walk out His will for my life. I got baptized and am now cutting off my sinful behaviors, this time not in my own strength but with the grace that Jesus gives. As I continue going to church and weekly small groups, I’m growing in a deeper relationship not only with the Lord but with my fellow brothers in Christ. Now I’m learning how to build my foundation in Christ, being sanctified by Him every day. I have everything I have prayed for and more, my life is a testimony on how the Lord is faithful, generous and kind. Giving my life to Christ was the best decision and ended up changing the trajectory of my eternal life.
