In my childhood, I was exposed to the idea of God but didn’t truly understand who He was. I never read God’s word or took the time to reflect on His character, which often left me feeling distant and separated from God. Instead, I relied simply on my own strength and looking good from the outside. As a triplet, this added to the pressure of feeling the need to constantly prove myself in a new way. My identity revolved around how well I performed academically and athletically, leading to self-doubt and anxiety.
Beginning the Bible studies with a campus minister changed my perspective on myself. Learning that my works aren’t what makes me right with God was something I never heard before. Hearing how Jesus’ sacrifice is what truly sets me free was extremely freeing. After going through the Bible study, I decided to give my life to Jesus in the spring of my freshman year.
Coming into the church, I was initially pretty shy, but this community was there every step of the way. Their support, love, advice, and encouragement have been so meaningful. Since then, I have become more connected with the body and grown in the boldness in my faith. Whether it’s serving at church, participating in Bulls for Life, or becoming a Bible Study Leader this semester, I have seen the fruit of God’s patience and faithfulness in my life.
Overall, God is continuously teaching me new things and shaping my journey. I have seen Him work in my own family, with my sister giving her life to Jesus, and I’ve been able to start conversations about God with other family members.
As I prepare to begin flight school in Tampa in February, I trust in God’s provision and His plan for the opportunities and responsibilities that lie ahead. I am truly thankful for His continuous love and provision in my life. Thank you God!
