Growing up, attending church on Sundays was mandatory in my household due to my mother’s Christian faith. It became a normal routine, something I never questioned until I started high school. The summer after my first year of high school, I attended my church’s annual VBS Camp, where I truly learned about Jesus and what it meant to have a relationship with Him. I asked many questions, and each was answered by the teachers at the camp, clearing up much of my confusion. By the end, I finally understood that Jesus died for me because I was a sinner in need of salvation. On the last day of camp, when the opportunity arose, I asked Jesus for forgiveness, and gave my life completely to Him.
Unfortunately, after my salvation, it seemed like I was left to figure the Christian walk out alone. So before leaving for college, I prayed earnestly for a church where I could grow. On my second day of college, I met a campus minister, who invited me to church. Through Bible studies with him, I learned so much more about Jesus and how to apply the Bible in my daily life.
After a few weeks of attending Cornerstone, I was really encouraged by how much everyone loved Jesus and how enthusiastic they were in sharing their faith; as a result, I did the same. I was able to share my faith with one of my now closest friends, Kam (pictured on the right). The first time I met him, I could tell that he never had a personal relationship with Jesus. I was initially scared to talk to him about Jesus because there was a fear of being rejected; however, after talking to some of my close friends at Cornerstone, I felt encouraged to do so. I ended up sharing my testimony with Kam and he was really moved by it and wanted a personal relationship with Jesus. He agreed to do a bible study with me and that same campus minister who discipled me. He ended up giving his life to Jesus shortly after! After seeing the fruit of what sharing my faith could accomplish, I decided to become a bible study leader to learn more on how to lead other people to Jesus as well. Being part of Cornerstone has been a blessing, and I am thankful for everyone who have shown me what it truly means to be a disciple of Christ!
