Before finding Christ, I lived with a big void often feeling alone and guilty. As an only child born and raised in the Fort Myers area, I could count with my hands the number of times I went to church growing up. I grew up in a home with basic Christian values and was taught to pray from a young age. As I got older, I quickly fell into what seemed to be a never-ending guilt cycle of redundant prayers, prayers that felt meaningless. Often curious for the Word, I would open my Bible, but without purpose or guidance, I would get discouraged and push it aside. I knew there was something more to the Lord, but never quite figured it out.

Come the first week of spring at USF, I met with a campus minister from Cornerstone and that quickly multiplied my curiosity. I saw the love for Jesus in her eyes and I wanted that too. She introduced the Gospel to me for the first time, and I came to realize I never actually understood Jesus’s death. The begotten Son of God was crucified on the very cross He carried, paying for the sins I deserved to be punished for. I could not shake the thought that I was selfish for having the One who sacrificed for me wait on me. After the longest and heaviest week of my life the time finally came when I surrendered.

Now my life is in the process of transformation alongside a Father who loves me and wants to hear from me. Growing an actual relationship with Him and receiving the blessings He patiently waited for me to see has been nothing short of amazing. Amongst all the gifts He has blessed me with, He gave me Cornerstone, a church body that I was quickly assured I belonged to. I went from being an only child to having an abundance of brothers and sisters who care, love, and build me up. My purpose and guide is now my Savior who gives me opportunities to see the wholeness He offers to all who seek Him. I am so grateful for the people He used to draw me to Him and I cannot wait to see what else He has in store for this family!
